On a visit to his native Mexico, specifically to the blue house, artist Eduardo Garza was inspired to create a
jewelry collection based on
Frida Kahlo. " when you look at the paintings, most of her
jewelry has great
symbolic meaning, and I wanted to capture that in the
jewelry collection" he says. Garza created the collection using
symbolic materials from ancient amber beads to
Aztec jade coins. I adore anything that comes from my native Mexico and this collection lives up to that. I especially love:
Antique Aztec Eagle Head, hand-carved in antique jade, with accents of amber, bone, antique ivory, antique red coral, and amethyst, $3,800; eduardogarza.com
“Jade for pre-Columbian cultures represented life, and for Frida the color green represented light and goodness.”
